A Port Wentworth man was arrested Monday on child pornography charges, according to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office.

Eddy Rolando Castro, 39, was taken into custody at his home Monday morning. He was charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of children and booked into the Effingham County Jail.

Castro’s arrest resulted from an investigation “over the span of several weeks,” according to Deputy Joe Heath, who heads up the ECSO’s involvement in the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

“Deputies removed a computer, several cell phones and other digital media devices after discovering several suspected images of child pornography,” Heath said.

Castro’s bond was set at $5,700, according to the ECSO’s Web site. He was still in jail as of press time.

The ICAC Task Force is a nationwide network of law enforcement agencies devoted to investigating and apprehending people who use the Internet and other communications systems to sexually exploit children.
