Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a south Effingham man for operating what they say is a marijuana grow house.

Deputies arrested Raymond Durham, 42, of Bloomingdale on Thursday afternoon after a search warrant was conducted at his residence on Pecan Road. Investigators uncovered nearly a dozen pot plants along with a commercial growing chamber complete with lamps and mirrors, according to ECSO spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor.

The search also revealed several digital scales and several smoking devices used for marijuana and methamphetamine. Investigators found a small amount of meth in the house.

“This was the result of an investigation by the Drug Suppression Unit over the past several weeks about a possible drug operation,” Ehsanipoor said.

He said the investigation is continuing and more arrests could be made.

Durham has been charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and possession of drug related objects.

He is being held in the Effingham County Jail without bond.
