EDEN, Ga. — A father and son were arrested Tuesday following a barricade situation in the Fox Bow neighborhood, according to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a home on Ridge Road around 3:30 p.m. for a reported domestic dispute. When they arrived, 47-year-old George Driggers was reportedly chasing his girlfriend with a firearm and threatened responding deputies.

Deputies used less-lethal force in an attempt to disarm Driggers, who then barricaded himself inside the home. Authorities spent more than an hour trying to negotiate with him.

The Georgia State Patrol, Rincon Police Department and Effingham County Fire Department also responded to assist.

Chemical munitions were deployed to remove Driggers from the home. He was taken into custody and transported to the Effingham County Jail.

Driggers is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of felony obstruction involving threats against law enforcement, and disorderly conduct.

His father, 80-year-old Alford Driggers, was also arrested and charged with felony obstruction involving threats against law enforcement.
