One suspect remains in the Effingham County Jail today facing several charges after leading Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies on a high speed pursuit late Tuesday night.

According to ECSO reports, a deputy clocked a motorcycle traveling 120 mph on Courthouse Road shortly after 11 p.m. Deputies pursued the motorcycle with speeds reaching in excess of 140 mph. The driver, Brian Ray, 35, of Springfield, led deputies on the chase from Courthouse Road to Highway 17 in Guyton and into the Hidden Creek subdivision where he was eventually captured.

During the pursuit, Ray struck a patrol car with his motorcycle. He fled on foot in a wooded area where he was eventually subdued by deputies with a taser following a brief struggle.
