A high-speed pursuit Tuesday morning has landed one man in jail.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., a deputy was conducting a business check at Highways 275 and 21 when he observed a suspicious vehicle. As he attempted to stop the vehicle, it fled at a high rate of speed down Ebenezer Road.

The driver of the vehicle, Shaun Bryant, 28, of Rincon, lost control. It flipped over on Mill Pond Road near Rincon Stillwell Road after striking several trees.

Bryant was partially ejected out of the passenger window and was eventually caught after a foot chase. A passenger, Brandon Smith, 25, of Rincon, in the vehicle was partially ejected but not seriously injured.

Bryant was charged with felony fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, obstruction of law enforcement officer, open container violation and other traffic violations.

Smith was cited for a seat belt violation and released.
