Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Springfield man Friday afternoon after reports he was standing alongside Highway 21 near Eugene Gnann Road exposing himself to motorists.

Alvie Collins Jr., 22, of Springfield, was apprehended by deputies and was taken into custody after a struggle with deputies. During the incident, Collins was subdued with a taser.

ECSO has received calls over the past few Friday afternoons in reference to a man exposing himself to motorist traveling on Highway 21 North. Deputies believe Collins has been responsible for these acts.

Collins has been charged with public indecency and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. Additional charges may be forthcoming against him.

Collins is currently being held in the Effingham County Jail.
