As the countdown to Effingham ALIVE! continues, excitement builds for a day of history, family fun, and local flavor. The Effingham County Chamber and New Ebenezer Retreat Center host this brand-new festival, inviting the community to experience one of Effingham County’s most historic sites in a whole new way.

Effingham ALIVE! is set for Saturday, April 5, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the New Ebenezer Retreat Center, 2887 Ebenezer Rd, Rincon.

“This event brings people together—not just to honor our past, but to create something fresh and energizing for our community,” says Susan Kraut, president & CEO of the Effingham County Chamber. “Effingham ALIVE! launches a tradition that we plan to grow every year into a must-attend experience, celebrating what makes this region so special.

A key part of the Chamber’s Two Rivers tourism initiative, Effingham ALIVE! also supports the local economy by drawing attention to the unique assets that make Effingham County a vibrant destination for residents, visitors, and businesses alike. The event brings together historic preservation, cultural celebration, and small business visibility—all in one dynamic day.

The City of Rincon joins as a community partner, bringing additional momentum to the event’s mission of connection and collaboration. “We appreciate Rincon’s support,” Kraut adds. “When our cities and towns lean in, we unlock more opportunities for families, businesses, and future growth.”

Visitors to Effingham ALIVE! will explore the scenic New Ebenezer Retreat Center, take a guided history hayride, and dive into a day packed with engaging activities—from art and educational exhibits to bounce houses, kids’ challenges, and vendor showcases. Families can browse locally made goods, enjoy a live DJ, and indulge in festival favorites like cotton candy, BBQ, and funnel cakes.

“We are thrilled to invite the community to experience this incredible property in such a dynamic way,” says Clara Barnes, executive director of the New Ebenezer Retreat Center. New Ebenezer has such a rich history, but this event is about more than just looking back—it’s about bringing people together in the present, strengthening our sense of place, and creating new memories.

Effingham ALIVE! sets the stage for a signature community gathering—one that supports local business, celebrates shared heritage, and positions Effingham County as a thriving place to live, visit, and grow.
