Special to the Herald

The Effingham County 4-H outdoor archery team had an outstanding performance May 7-8 at the State Outdoor Archery Tournament held at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center. With 42 Georgia counties represented, Effingham stood out across multiple divisions.

The Cloverleaf Compound Team—composed of fourth- and fifth-graders Audrieanna Kinsey, Carly Campbell, Jarrett Lee, and Ford Smith—earned a second-place finish overall, missing first place by just one point.

The Junior Compound Team went on to outshoot the competition and secure a first-place victory for Effingham County. Team members Ava Green, Jena Lee, Saylor Harris, and Brady Rahn dominated their division, and brought home blue ribbons.

The Senior Division Compound Team also had a strong showing. Andrew Moseley, Owen Woods, Hunter Morris, and Levi Webb represented Effingham and placed sixth overall out of 42 competing teams.

“We are incredibly proud of the entire Outdoor Archery Team and deeply thankful for the dedicated volunteer coaches who make this program possible: Aaron Webb, Aaron Morris, Kenny Lee, Josh Moseley, Henry Kessler, and Regis Lesueur,” said Morgana Triplett of Effingham 4-H. “We couldn’t do it without you.”

The hard work and commitment of these young archers exemplify the 4-H motto: “Making the Best Better.” Georgia 4-H offers a wide range of enriching programs, and the Project SAFE Shooting Sports initiative continues to be a powerful example of the opportunities and success 4-H brings to youth across the state.
