SPRINGFIELD, Ga. – The Effingham County Board of Commissioners has approved the purchase and installation of new playground equipment at Baker Lake Park, awarding a $580,487.45 contract to PlaySouth Playground Creators from Newnan, Georgia.

The upgrade is part of ongoing renovations at the popular park, with Effingham County Recreation and Sports Services identifying the need for modern, safe, and age-appropriate play areas.

The project will feature:

  • Three play structures designed for children ages 6–23 months, 2–5 years, and 5–12 years
  • 8,800 square feet of poured-in-place rubber safety surfacing
  • Engineered wood fiber mulch
  • 12 shade structures and benches

Beyond the new playground, Baker Lake Park renovations include a renovated restroom facility, four pickleball courts, asphalt parking areas, ornamental fencing, sidewalks, a kayak launch, a fishing pier, and dog park fencing.

The renovations are expected to be completed by January 2026.

Located at 216 Courthouse Road, Baker Lake Park is the county’s second-busiest park, trailing only the Clarence E. Morgan Complex in visitor traffic.
