EFFINGHAM COUNTY ELECTIONS: Two commissioners draw opposition

 SPRINGFIELD — A pair of Republic incumbent Effingham County commissioners will face opposition in the Nov. 8 election.

District 3’s Jamie DeLoach and District 5’s Phil Kieffer will square off against Richard D.M. Garvin and Pastor Delmons White, respectively.

District 2 Commissioner Roger Burdette has no opposition.

Republican Richard R. Rafter was the lone qualifier for solicitor general. Incumbent Mark Lee is set to retire from the post.

The Effingham County Board of Education’s Lynn Anderson (District 1) and Ben Johnson (District 4) are also unchallenged in their non-partisan races.

In the race to succeed Ronald K. Thompson as State Court judge, R. Stephen Sims will face Stephen R. Yekel.

The general election day is Nov. 8.
