Effingham County EMA to operate until Irma has passed

Effingham County EMA has upgraded its Emergency Operations Center to Operation Level 2; It is operating 24 hours until the threat of Hurricane Irma has passed.

This is still an extremely powerful storm that s approximately 425 miles in overall diameter. It is forecast for tropical storm force winds within Effingham County.

EMA is encouraging everyone to limit travel on the roads as the storm move closer and conditions deteriorate. Also, pull  trash cans away from the road and secure them from becoming obstacles.

Bring inside or tie down anything in your yards that could become flying debris.
