Aug. 6 Possession of Marijuana Less than One Ounce Two men were seen smoking marijuana in a parked vehicle. They both openly admitted to partaking in the act and were swiftly placed under arrest. The reporting officer was Daniel Handshumaker. Terroristic Threats and/or Acts A woman advised that her child’s father made threats against her after he started working with her boyfriend. The threats began when the woman’s mother questioned the father’s presence at the woman’s home. He threatened to beat the woman, so she called the boyfriend to get the father out of the house. As the boyfriend was driving him home, the father further threatened to kidnap the child and burn down the woman’s house if anything happened to a book that he wrote in prison. The child’s father could not be contacted at the time. The reporting officer was Bryan Shearouse. Aug. 7 Possession of Methamphetamine; Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (Misdemeanor); Possession of Open Alcohol Container; Improper Lane Change A man was spotted failing to signal while conducting a lane change. It was noted that he had an open whiskey bottle in the seat next to him. A background check later revealed that his driver’s license was suspended. A search of his vehicle also yielded small amounts of methamphetamine, and he was arrested. The owner of the truck arrived on the scene to take possession of the vehicle. Aug. 8 Following too Closely; Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance; Theft by Receiving Stolen Property-Misdemeanor A man who had been involved in a crash was discovered to have been following too closely. He was swiftly arrested after a background check also revealed that he had an active warrant and that he had stolen from a local store the previous day. His vehicle was towed by a local wrecker service. The reporting officer was John Etzle. Theft by Shoplifting-Misdemeanor A gas station manger advised that a woman had stolen a bag of beef jerky and a fountain drink from the store. She also attempted to steal three candy bars but was caught before she could do so. She fled the scene afterward and contact could not be made with her at the time. The reporting officer was John Etzle. Domestic Dispute A man stated that he and his wife got into a verbal argument over the wife’s drinking habits. The wife, however, claimed that they were fighting because the man had recently joined a violent motorcycle gang. Both parties were advised to separate for the remainder of the night. The reporting officer was Matthew Davis. Aug. 9 Traffic Complaint/iolation A woman was spotted driving down the road at a very high rate of speed. A background check later revealed that her tag was expired and that her license had been suspended for failure to appear. She admitted to knowing about this and was allowed to leave the scene when her fiancé arrived. The reporting officer was James Thompson. Aug. 10 Driving Without License A man stated that a suspicious vehicle was loitering on the property of the company for which he worked. The driver of the vehicle said that he was simply using the company’s free wireless internet connection to make phone calls. A background check later revealed that he was not licensed to drive, and after a brief struggle, he was swiftly arrested. His vehicle was towed by a local wrecker service. The reporting officer was Kristopher Withem. Aug. 10 DUI-Driving Under the Influence of Drugs; Passing in No Passing Zone A woman was seen having crashed into another vehicle. It was noted that she was on prescription medication, and it was requested that she conduct a field sobriety test. She failed and was released on a citation due to a high number of calls. The reporting officer was Matthew Davis. Entering Automobile or Other Motor Vehicle with Intent to Commit a Crime A woman advised that she saw an unknown man looking into the window of her car. He ran away once he noticed the woman, and the woman fled into her house out of fear. When she went back to the vehicle, she discovered that it had been broken into and that a purse had been taken from it. She was unsure of who had committed the act, but she suspected that it was drug related due to the history of the vehicle’s owner. The reporting officer was Jonathan Simpson. DUI-Driving Under the Influence of Drugs; Obstruction of Law Enforcement (Misdemeanor); Improper Lane Change A woman was spotted failing to signal her lane change while driving down the road. It was noted that her vehicle smelled strongly of burnt marijuana. She admitted to smoking the substance and agreed to take a field sobriety test. She failed the test, but before she could be arrested, she ran away from police. After a brief chase, she was placed under arrest. Her mother collected her vehicle and her children. The reporting officer was Daniel Handshumaker. Theft by Taking-Felony A man stated that his ex-wife took his truck and refused to return it. He noted that his ex-wife was on probation and was likely trying to avoid the police. She could not be contacted at the time. The reporting officer was Kathy Dillard. Wanted Person-Warrant Service A man who was suspected of drug activity was seen at a local residence. He denied being involved in the drug activity, but a background check revealed that he had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation. He was swiftly arrested a short time later. The reporting officer was Jonathan Simpson. Aug. 11 Domestic Dispute A woman advised that her husband, who was under the influence of drugs, was beating on the door and begging for money. She also noted that he had been physically abusive toward her in the past. The husband could not be contacted at the time. The reporting officer was Jonathan Simpson. Criminal Trespass A woman stated that her intoxicated son stole her mail out of her hand and ate her houseplant. It was noted that there was dirt from the plant on the floor, and the son openly admitted to eating it. After a brief struggle, he was placed under arrest. He had to be placed in a wheelchair at the jail, as his prosthetic leg came off during the struggle. The reporting officer was Daniel Handshumaker. Aggravated Stalking; Simple Assault A man stated that he went to his separated wife’s house to see his son. When he arrived, he was confronted by several unknown people and forced to retreat. One of the people at the residence claimed that the man had made threatening remarks toward them and that he threatened them with a knife and a baseball bat before leaving. The wife added that the man had been recently stalking her at all hours of the day. He was swiftly arrested a short time later. The reporting officer was Christopher Cary. Obstructing or Hindering Law Enforcement Officers; Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects; Drugs not in Original Container-Misdemeanor; DUI-Alcohol/Controlled Substance Present in Driver; DUI-Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol; DUI-Endangering a Child by Driving Under the Influence; Seat Belt Violation; Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (Misdemeanor); Window, Windshield or Wiper Violation; Open Alcohol Container A woman was spotted driving down the road in a vehicle with a large crack in the windshield. She swapped places with a male passenger before stopping which resulted in both parties being detained. A young girl was also present in the vehicle, and her mother was contacted so that she could take custody of the girl. It was noted that the woman smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages, and a portable breath test later confirmed that she was intoxicated. It was also revealed that she had multiple license suspensions. A search of her vehicle also yielded several pills that were not in their original container, a glass smoking pipe and an open bottle of whisky. Both parties were placed under arrest a short time later. Their vehicle was towed by a local wrecker service. The reporting officer was Matthew Davis. Simple Battery A woman advised that her sister had hit her in the face during an altercation. The fight originally started when the sister attempted to take the woman’s child from the woman’s residence. It was noted that the woman had some swelling on both of her eyes. The sister could not be located at the time. The reporting officer was Kathy Dillard. Aug. 12 Criminal Trespass; Obstruction of Law Enforcement (Misdemeanor) A woman stated that her husband broke the windshield of her vehicle. She said that he did so during a fight with one of the woman’s friends. After a brief struggle, the husband was placed under arrest. The reporting officer was Daniel Handshumaker. DUI-Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol; Failure to Maintain Lane A man was seen failing to maintain his proper lane while driving down the road. It was noted that his vehicle smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages, though he denied being under the influence. He then proceeded to fail a field sobriety test and was swiftly arrested. His vehicle was towed by a local wrecker service, and his juvenile passenger was taken home. The reporting officer was Daniel Handshumaker.
