Aug.18


Animal Complaint


A woman stated that her friend’s dog attacked her own dog and that she had to take her dog to a local animal hospital for treatment. The friend admitted that this had occurred, but she said that it was an accident. Both parties were advised to avoid each other for the time being. The reporting officer was Tommy Williams.


Aug. 23


Theft by Taking-Felony


A woman stated that she kicked a homeless man that she had taken in out of her house because he stole some of her son’s clothing. She later discovered that he had stolen other items including 19 video games, a watch, two guitars, a wedding band, several collectible coins, 98 pills, a pocket knife and a portable video game console. The homeless man could not be contacted at the time. The reporting officer was Matthew Holbrook.



Aug. 27


DUI-;Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol;  Failure to Obey Stop Sign


A man advised that he had failed to see an oncoming car and got into an accident. It was noted that he smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages. He admitted to having previously drank a beer and was placed under arrest. He refused all medical treatment. The reporting officer was Karyn Witherington.


Wanted Person-Warrant Service


A man was seen driving down the road with no functioning tail or tag light. He stated that the problem was likely due to his new car battery. A background check revealed that he had an active warrant, and he was arrested. The reporting officer was Max Barber.


Aug. 28


Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance; Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance;  Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects; Drugs not in Original Container- Misdemeanor


A woman involved in a burglary was spotted driving away from the scene. She stated that she was not trying to rob the residence and that she simply wanted to take a shower. A search of her person


yielded meth, a pink smoking device and two blue pills. She was swiftly arrested, and her vehicle was towed by a local wrecker service. The reporting officer was William West.


Burglary-First Degree (Felony)


A man stated that someone had forced entry into his home and ransacked it. A neighbor confirmed that she had heard a loud bang and saw someone run from the residence with a trash bag full of items. The man was unsure as to who had committed the theft. The reporting officer was John Etzle.


Aug. 29


Agency Assist; Animal Bite


A man stated that he was bitten by an injured cat before it passed away from its injuries. The cat was taken to a local animal hospital so that it could be tested for rabies. The reporting officer was Tommy Williams.


Too Fast for Conditions


A woman was seen driving around a curve at a very high rate of speed. She stated that she had mistaken the speed limit on the road, and she apologized. She was cited and released from the scene. The reporting officer was James Ashley Denney.


Suspended License Plate; Obstruction of Law Enforcement (Misdemeanor)


A woman was spotted driving down the road with a broken brake light. A background check revealed that her vehicle’s registration was suspended, and it was also noted that the vehicle smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages. She conducted a field sobriety test, and it was determined that she was sober enough to drive. A male passenger ran from the scene because he had an active warrant, and he could not be located by police. The woman was given a warning and released from the scene. The reporting officer was Daniel Handshumaker.


Obstructing or Hindering Law Enforcement Officers; Wanted Person-Warrant Service


A wanted man was seen running from police on foot to the back of a residence. After a long chase through yards and woods, the man was apprehended. His warrants were confirmed, and he was placed under arrest. The reporting officer was Bryan Shearouse.


Recovered Property


A man advised that he found a golf cart on his property and that he suspected that it had been stolen. The golf cart was towed off the property and impounded. The man was unsure as to whom the golf cart belonged. The reporting officer was James Daniel McKie. 


Aug. 30


Disorderly Conduct; Public Drunkenness; Possess/Manufacture/Distribute a Controlled Substance


A man advised that he was going to go to the sheriff’s office and kill himself. It was noted that the man appeared to be under the influence and that he was not talking in an order that made sense. He denied threatening to kill himself and acted highly irate. He was eventually arrested due to his behavior, whereupon he confessed that he and his wife were having martial problems. It was also revealed that he had methamphetamine in his possession. The reporting officer was Kristopher Withem.


Stalking


A woman stated that a neighbor had been sexually harassing by going to her house and making crude comments toward her. Her husband confirmed this story and said that it had been an ongoing problem. The neighbor, however, denied these accusations and claimed that he was the victim of racism. It was noted that he appeared to be extremely intoxicated. He was advised to not contact the woman again. The reporting officer was Danny Harrington.

A man was spotted having crashed his vehicle in the median of the interstate. A background check revealed that he had an active warrant, and he was swiftly arrested. The reporting officer was Matthew Davis.


Aug. 31


Wanted Person-Warrant Service


A man with an outstanding probation was seen in the parking lot of a local gas station. After a brief foot chase, he was placed under arrest, and his warrant was served. The reporting officer was William West.


Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (Misdemeanor)


A woman with a suspended license was spotted driving down the road in her truck. She immediately admitted to having a suspended license and was swiftly arrested. Her mother arrived on the scene to collect her vehicle and newborn. The reporting officer was Max Barber.


Criminal Trespass-Property Damage


A woman advised that an unknown person had tried to kick in her front and back door. It was noted that the front door was ajar and that the back screen was torn. The woman did not know who it was that had tried to break in. The reporting officer was Max Barber.


Sept. 1


Animal Complaint; Damage to Property


A man stated that a driver hit a dog with his vehicle and then proceeded to run into a ditch. The man admitted to hitting the dog but said that it was an accident. A woman who was driving behind the driver confirmed this. The reporting officer was Tonya Hodges.


Unlawful Conduct During 911 Calls or Contacts 911 and Hangs Up


A woman called 911 and stated that her husband had locked the safe keys in the safe. It was noted that she smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages. The husband later clarified that the woman was drunk and that he had locked her car keys in the safe to prevent her from driving. Because this was an ongoing issue, the woman was placed under arrest. The reporting officer was Matt Smith.


Sept. 2


Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance


A man was seen sleeping in his vehicle on the side of the road. It was noted that he smelled strongly of both marijuana and alcoholic beverages. A search of his person yielded two ecstasy pills, and he was swiftly arrested. The reporting officer was Isaac Taylor.


Disorderly Conduct; Aggressive Driving


A man stated that he and his girlfriend got into an altercation after she discovered several text messages on his phone. He left the scene to deescalate the situation, but the girlfriend followed him in her vehicle and used it to hit his vehicle on the roadway. The girlfriend admitted to hitting his vehicle but claimed that it was an accident and that she was simply trying to get him to stop so that they could talk. She was placed under arrest a short time later. The reporting officer was Isaac Taylor.


Fire


A woman advised that her vehicle caught on fire after she pulled onto the side of the road to put more water into it. The fire was extinguished without any injuries and the owner of the vehicle was notified. The reporting officer was Cody Chapman.


Failure to Maintain Lane; Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (Misdemeanor)


A man was spotted crossing the center line while driving down the road. A background check revealed that his driver’s license was suspended, and he was swiftly arrested. The reporting officer was Max Barber.


Sept. 3


Aggravated Assault; Cruelty to Children- Allow Child to Witness


A woman stated that her daughter was hit by a man while the two were arguing over the custody of their child. The man admitted that the argument had happened, but he claimed that the daughter had been the one to hit him. He also claimed that the marks on the daughter’s face were from rough sex. The daughter, however, denied this and said that the marks were from him chocking her in front of the child. The man was arrested a short time later. The reporting officer was Kristopher Withem.


Theft by Taking-Felony


A man stated that he woke up to hear his dog barking at a strange man standing on his porch. The strange man said that his liver hurt and that he needed an ambulance, but when the man went inside to call 911, the strange man proceeded to steal the man’s truck. The strange man could not be contacted at the time. The reporting officer was David Cribbs.


Obstruction of Law Enforcement (Misdemeanor);  Furnish/Sell Alcohol to Person Under 21; Battery; Public Drunkenness


A group of several intoxicated individuals stated that a fight ensued between them after an argument broke out over who had the right to drink the home owner’s beer. After a series of threatening text messages and verbal altercations, a woman in the group began to punch everyone in sight which is what started the fight. In the end, three people were bleeding, and everyone in the group had some amount of visible injuries. The woman denied starting the fight, but based on the accounts of the rest of the group, it was determined that she was lying, and she was arrested. She tried to run away while she was being handcuffed, but after a brief struggle, she was secured. She continued to be disorderly on her way to jail. The reporting officer was Loren Richard Scholes.


Wanted Person-Warrant Service; Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance


A man advised that his wanted son was asleep in the man’s house in a chair. A search of the son revealed that he had 20 pills of unprescribed depressants, and he was swiftly arrested. The reporting officer was Daniel Handshumaker.


Wanted Person-Warrant Service; Burning Without Permit


A man stated that he was burning trash in his backyard and that the fire got out of control. A woman walking by the scene assisted him in putting the fire out. The man admitted to not having the proper permits, and he was cited for it. A background check on the woman revealed that she had an active warrant, and she was arrested. The reporting officer was Daniel Handshumaker.


Entering Automobile or Other Motor Vehicle with Intent to Commit a Crime


A man stated that someone broke into his vehicle and stole around $650 from his wallet. He was unsure of who had committed the theft but noted that a suspicious truck had recently been seen in the area. The reporting officer was James Daniel McKie.
