Six Effingham County wrestlers placed in the top five at the Packer Classic in Moultrie on Friday and Saturday.
Senior Zebrandon Gant ran his record to 36-0 while winning the 195-pound class.
“Our older guys did a lot of good things,” Rebels coach Nico Guggino said. “We still have a ways to go but we are being aggressive and winning close matches. I am extremely proud of the way these guys practice and compete.”
Trace Baranowski (160), Zekeil Walls (220), Logan Kira (106) and Blake Snowden (285) earned third place in their respective division. Josh Wright (126) finished fifth.
“Our young guys are developing as well,” Guggino said. “Our freshmen have the chance to be very good wrestlers. These guys are growing up and understanding that hard work always pays off in the end.”
