RINCON — A pair of local elections will be featured in an online political forum sponsored by the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce and Effingham Herald on Oct. 12.

Effingham County Board of Education District 2 candidates Jan Landing and Jeff Schielke, and Rincon mayoral candidates Kevin Exley and Ken Lee will answer questions posed by Herald editor Mark Lastinger. The event, set for The Herald Center, will be streamed live at www.facebook.com/EffinghamChamber and posted later on the chamber’s YouTube page.

The Landing vs. Schielke race will be featured first beginning at 6 p.m. They are aiming to fill the unexpired term of Troy Alford, who resigned in June.

Exley and Lee, an incumbent, will step into the spotlight at 8 p.m.

“I believe this is a great opportunity for voters to learn something about these candidates,” Lastinger said. “Previous forums put on by the chamber and Herald in recent years proved to be quite revealing and I am confident that will be the case this time. We hope voters will give the candidates a look so that they can make a more informed choice.”
