A group of four men allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint at his home in Faulkville on May 11.

Richard Keith Newman, 24, and Joshua Bunn, 21, of Ellabell, along with Christopher Bray of Brooklet and a 15-year-old, entered a home on East Deerfield Road at approximately 7:47 p.m. They are accused of stealing several items from the homeowner while holding him at gunpoint and also beating him.

According to Effingham County sheriff’s reports, once the men left the home the victim called 911 and provided the operator with a description of the vehicle they were driving, which was a gray and white Chevrolet Lumina.

Deputy Sheriff Tony Cantrell observed the vehicle traveling north on Highway 17 and Jabez Jones Road at approximately 8:02 p.m. He followed the vehicle until backup units arrived. The deputies pulled the suspects over and recovered stolen property, along with a 12-gauge shotgun and a handgun.

All of the adult offenders were taken to the Effingham County Jail. The juvenile was transported to the Claxton Regional Youth Detention Center. All four men have been charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault with a gun, burglary, false imprisonment, battery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

In addition, Bunn faces felony obstruction of a police officer because he tried to fight the officers. He already had a prior criminal record.
