A Clyo woman was killed and three others were seriously injured in a two-car accident Friday afternoon on Fort Argyle Road near Highway 204 in western Chatham County.
Nancy Hodges was declared killed at the scene when a 2006 Pontiac G6 and a 2004 Ford Explorer Sport collided. The Pontiac was traveling westbound when it crossed the double center line and struck the Explorer, according to the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department.
Hodges' 31-year-old daughter, who was driving, was taken to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Three people, all from Bloomingdale, in the other vehicle also were hurt. Two women, ages 36 and 16, were taken to Memorial with serious injuries while the third passenger, a male who was driving, was taken to St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
After the collision, the Explorer caught fire and was destroyed, but its three passengers had gotten out of the vehicle before the fire.
The area was closed to traffic for nearly four hours.
