The Port Wentworth Police Department has announced that the funeral arrangements for Lt. Dale Sylvester. Jr. 

Sylvester passed away during the early morning hours Wedbesday as the result of complications from an on-duty exposure to the COVID-19 virus. He served the Port Wentworth Police Department for approximately five years.

Sylvester retired from the Chatham County Police Department/Chatham County District Attorney’s office after 26 years of dedicated service. He held numerous assignments throughout his career to include the Bomb Squad, Counter Narcotics, Criminal Investigation, Motorcycle Patrol, D.U.I. Task Force and Uniform Patrol.

Sylvester was a U.S. Navy veteran who proudly served his country from 1984-87. 

Service Information: 

Sunday Viewing & Visitation: 2:-3:30 p.m.

Funeral Service: 3:30 p.m. at Rincon First Baptist Church, 201 E. 6th St. Rincon.

 It is requested that a mask must be worn appropriately by all that are attending the services, regardless of vaccination status.
