Special to the Herald
The Forsyth Farmers’ Market is hosting a special Farmsgiving Brunch on Sunday, Jan. 7, with a Gullah-Geechee twist, featuring popular Food Network chef Gina Capers Willis, who will create a soulful feast using fresh produce, meats and products from the Forsyth Farmers’ Market. This event is open to the public.
Attendees can immerse themselves in the richness of Gullah Geechee heritage through a meal that celebrates coming together to support the Savannah community and to honor Gullah Geechee traditions.
All proceeds will benefit Forsyth Farmers’ Market programs designed to support local farmers and to expand access to healthy, nutrient-dense food throughout the Savannah community.
Willis is the star of “What’s Gina Cooking?,” an Emmy Award-nominated Food Network digital series, and has been featured in Bon Appetit, Essence, and Atlanta Magazine. A resident of Savannah, Willis is a leading Lowcountry chef with deep Gullah and Cuban roots.
Farmsgiving celebrations encourage area residents to enjoy a meal together to support the Forsyth Farmers’ Market’s mission to support sustainable agriculture and to increase access to fresh, local food.
Brunch begins at 11 a.m. at O'Hara Hall - Catholic Diocese of Savannah, 2170 E. Victory Dr., Savannah.
Tickets are $100/age 13+, $50/youth ages 6-12, and free for children age 5 and under. Tables of ten are also available.
