Habitat for Humanity makes another dream come true

RINCON -- The happiness -- perhaps relief -- was evident on Lauren Alvarado's face.Eighteen months after ground was broken for her new house at 3 Talmadge Drive, she received the keys to it from Wayne Rutland, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Effingham County. The house is the 18th constructed by Rutland's organization since 1995 and the first in Rincon. "Everyone has been so helpful, supportive and loving," Alvarado said during a dedication ceremony."It's been humbling."

Help Manna House Upgrade Its Parking Lot

Friends of Manna House is fundraising in August to renovate the busy food pantry parking lot. The community is invited to shop donated décor and support the project.
