Halloween event in the works in Guyton

GUYTON — The City of Guyton intends to scare up a good time for its citizens with a Halloween event.

An “information meeting and discussion” for Trick or Trail 2021 is set Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. at Guyton Gymnasium, 505 Magnolia St.

“If you’ve got ideas, this is new,” Mayor Russ Deen said during Tuesday’s Guyton City Council workshop. “We will be happy to hear any of it.”

The council hopes to piggyback on the success of last weekend’s Summer Sale on the Trail. Set up on the walking trail in the downtown area, it featured arts and crafts, and food vendors.

“I think people are anxious to get out and do things so I think it’s a good thing to encourage that,” Councilman Marshall Reiser said.

Reiser said he received positive feedback from citizens in the wake of Summer Sale on the Trail. Deen is looking for community input before Trick or Trail.

“Trick or Trail is something that we put on our approved agenda for this year on October 30 but it is a new event,” he said. “I am asking for anyone who is interested to please reach out to City Hall or reach out to myself through russ.deen@cityofguyton.com. I will be reaching out to churches and local businesses.

“My vision for the Trick or Trail is to have open booths along the trail, kind of like a trunk or treat but you set up your own booth — if the churches want to choose spaces.”
