SPRINGFIELD, Ga. — Friends of Manna House Rincon is holding a fundraiser throughout August to help finance a much-needed renovation of the Manna House Food Pantry and Thrift Store parking lot.

For more than 30 years, Manna House has provided food, clothing and hope to families in need, relying solely on community support without government funding. The pantry now serves about 400 cars weekly — up from monthly visits before the pandemic — creating increased wear and tear on the parking lot from families, deliveries and trucks.

Liz Quarterman, operations manager at Manna House, said the parking lot requires a complete overhaul including grading, expanding by 20 feet, widening the entrance and removing a tree. She has solicited repair quotes ranging from $175,000 to $327,000 and is awaiting one final bid before the board determines next steps.

To help cover these costs, Friends of Manna House is sponsoring a sale of donated indoor and outdoor décor at 841 Old Dixie Highway in Springfield.

Joni and Tom Clarke, volunteers promoting the fundraiser, said they are excited to help the cause.

“Tom and I are blessed to be a part of Friends of Manna House and excited to be involved in this fundraiser,” Joni said. “Knowing the proceeds will go towards Manna House getting the parking lot repairs so badly needed makes all the time and effort worthwhile. And we are having fun meeting all the shoppers!”
