Effingham County is going to be getting a little more exposure to site selection specialists.

Site Selection magazine, based in Norcross, will feature Effingham twice in its issue next month, according to Effingham Industrial Development Authority CEO John Henry. The magazine, geared toward company executives and site selection consultants, will be looking into the proposed port at Jasper, S.C., and focusing on megasites.

Megasites, Henry said, are tracts that are at least 1,000 acres.

“I said, ‘we’ve got one of those,’” Henry noted.

He showed Site Selection magazine the Research Forest Tract. Henry said the IDA’s property at I-16, though more than 1,000 acres total, is not considered a megasite since no single tract is that size.

The IDA also is working two new projects, one named Spirit and another now named Big Boy.
