‘Lilo & Stitch’ week taking over Downtown Springfield
Mars Theatre

Special to the Herald

SPRINGFIELD -- Downtown Springfield is about to get a whole lot more wild and tropical. The Mars Theatre is launching a full week of themed fun inspired by Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, culminating in the premiere of the live-action film and a luau celebration Friday, May 23.

In partnership with the Effingham Herald and Effingham Artists, the Mars Theatre is hosting a lineup of family-friendly activities, including an interactive scavenger hunt, themed social media quizzes, giveaways, and a one-of-a-kind moviegoing experience in the heart of downtown.

One lucky participant in the “Stitch Hunt” will follow a series of daily clues leading to a hidden Stitch plush somewhere in Springfield. The first person to find Stitch will win four tickets to the Friday night premiere and luau, along with popcorn and soft drinks—and they’ll get to keep Stitch! The finder will take a selfie with Stitch and tag the Mars Theatre on social media to verify the finding.

In addition, families can join in the fun with the “Color Me Stitch” activity. Everyone who colors the official Mars Theatre Stitch coloring page, brings it in with a paid ticket, and follows on social media will receive a free small popcorn and small soft drink at any showing of Lilo & Stitch on opening weekend.

The fun all leads up to the Lilo & Stitch Premiere and Luau Celebration May 23 at the Mars Theatre. The pre-show party begins at 6 p.m., with the movie screening at 7 p.m. Guests can expect a festive atmosphere, themed decorations, and community spirit in one of Georgia’s most charming historic theatres.

Lilo & Stitch will continue to show at the Mars Theatre May 24-25, and again the following weekend, May 30 through June 1.

Tickets are available at www.marstheatre.com and can be purchased for any screening.

“This week is about bringing our community together through storytelling, creativity, and fun,” said Theatre Director Maddie Greer. “Whether you’re on the hunt for Stitch or enjoying popcorn with your family, there’s something for everyone at the Mars.”
