Many trees down in Pineora area due to weather
thompson1

Wednesday night's severe weather knocked down dozens of trees in the Pineora area, leaving residents with quite the mess to clean up.

The accompanying pictures, taken and provided by Scott Thompson, show the damage that was done.

The Effingham County Emergency Management Agency released the following statement Thursday morning regarding the damage: "Effingham EMA and GEMA are surveying the damage sustained to the Pineora area this morning. We are waiting on a representative from the National Weather Service, arriving this afternoon, to confirm the damage was sustained from a tornado and not a microburst. We are pleased to announce the community did not suffer any injuries or fatalities. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected here and in Bulloch County."

More information to come as it is made available.
