MINOR WASTEWATER DISCHARGE REPORTED TO EPD:

DATE OF MINOR DISCHARGE: Friday, June 10, 2022

REPORT SUBMITTED: Monday, June 13, 2022

 

LOCATION OF MINOR DISCHARGE: Ditch segment in the vicinity of Hwy 30 and

Pecan Lane, (32.198844, -81.284954) Effingham County, GA

CAUSE OF DISCHARGE: Cracked Force Main.

ESTIMATED DISCHARGE: Less than 5000 gallons.

RECEIVING WATERS: Drainage ditch potentially contiguous to minor unnamed

water bodies within the Ogeechee Watershed.

 

CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN: The broken pipe was repaired with a clamp, and

the affected area was neutralized with calcium hydroxide. Remaining water was

recovered and returned to the collection system for treatment.

SPILL STATUS: Corrective action completed. No further discharge occurring. No

waters of the state affected.

 

CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN TO PREVENT FUTURE DISCHARGE: The broken

pipe has been repaired.
