DATE OF MINOR DISCHARGE: Monday, August 15, 2022

REPORT SUBMITTED: Tuesday, August 16, 2022

LOCATION OF MINOR DISCHARGE: 100 Caribbean Village Dr., Park West Subdivision, Effingham County, GA

 

CAUSE OF DISCHARGE: Force Main Failure at Lift Station.

 

ESTIMATED DISCHARGE: Less than 5000 gallons.

 

RECEIVING WATERS: No receiving waters were affected.

 

CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN: By-Pass was installed. The affected area was neutralized with calcium hydroxide.

 

SPILL STATUS: Corrective action completed. No further discharge occurring.

 

CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN TO PREVENT FUTURE DISCHARGE: Section of failed piping is replaced. Discharged wastewater was recovered and returned to the collection system for treatment.

Rincon City Council Approves First Pay Raise in 14 Years

Rincon City Council voted unanimously Monday to approve its first pay raise in 14 years, increasing council members’ pay to $750 per month and the mayor’s pay to $950 per month starting next year. The raises will apply to those elected in November, when three council seats and the mayor’s office will be on the ballot.
