The public is invited to Veteran's Park in Springfield (behind Effingham Hospital on Hwy. 21) from 6:30-7:30 p.m. for a community prayer service. Participants are asked to bring their own chair.

"Join us as we lift up the Word of God as we embrace His promises. May we shine His light to the world," said Morgan Phillips of Joyful Acres Farms, one of the organizers.

Scheduled to participate in the service are: Pastor Lon Harden, Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church; Mayor Barton Alderman of Springfield; Pastor Ken Morgan, Springfield Oaks Church; Pastor Don Davis, Oak Grove Church of Christ; and Pastor Moses Toole, Centerpoint Community Church.

In case of inclement weather, the service will be held at the Board of Education auditorium, 405 N. Ash St., Springfield.
