Effingham County commuters will have a new traffic signal in Port Wentworth to encounter.

The state Department of Transportation announces a new traffic signal will begin flash mode Tuesday on Highway 21 at the intersection of Rice Mill Road/Market Boulevard in Port Wentworth. Message boards will be in place to prepare motorists for this new traffic signal.

If weather permits, the signal will be fully operational Wednesday.

Motorists are reminded to pay special attention to traffic control devices, signs and posted speed limits to ensure safe passage through the new signal location.
