SPRINGFIELD — Nov. 1 is the deadline for local taxpayers to apply to make a charitable contribution to Effingham Health System and receive a 2017 Georgia income tax credit of up to 90 percent of their contribution. The Georgia General Assembly makes this opportunity available through its implementation, and recent enhancement, of the Georgia Rural Hospital Expense Tax Credit program. Taxpayers who itemize may also receive a federal charitable income tax reduction.
“This is an opportunity for the citizens of Effingham and the surrounding area to assure their taxes stay in our community, helping us improve the delivery of healthcare for local people, said Fran Baker-Witt, chief executive officer of Effingham Health System.
