One dead, two hurt in accident

Authorities are continuing to investigate an accident early Sunday morning that killed one teenager and resulted in two others being sent to area hospitals with serious injuries.

Whitney Newman, 17, was killed at the scene when the vehicle she was a passenger in rolled over several times at the intersection of Stillwell-Clyo and Laurel Tree roads around 4 a.m. Sunday. Newman was in the backseat of the vehicle, a Geo Tracker.

Two other teenagers, ages 16 and 17, were seriously hurt. The driver, identified as Robert Stone, 18, was not seriously hurt in the accident.

Initial reports indicate at least six people were in the vehicle.

The Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating.
