Georgia-Pacific is cooperating with the investigation into the accidental death of a worker, officials said.

Libby Waddell was injured in an accident at the Savannah River Mill near Rincon on the evening of Nov. 2, according to plant spokesperson Carrie Thompson. Waddell was taken to Effingham Hospital and later transferred to Memorial Medical Center Health University, where she died Thursday.

“She never regained consciousness and passed away (Thursday) morning,” Thompson said.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating and Thompson said the plant is complying.

“All of our thoughts are with Libby’s family,” she said. “We value the safety of each employee.”

Waddell worked in the converting department at the mill and had been employed there for nine years.
