Park ready for Veterans Day event

Orchestral music will ring out on Veterans Day at the Veterans Park of Effingham in Springfield. The music will be preformed by the recently formed Effingham Community Orchestra, presenting a program, “Patriotic Tribute.” This program includes solos and narrations as part of the orchestra’s performance.

As the community comes together to pay their respect to those who have gone before, those who have given their life in the line of duty, and to those who continue to serve in the battle to preserve this nation’s freedom, they will be lead by the music of the group.  The music will include a variety of patriotic music and hymns of faith.

One of the new features at the park is that the programs are now transmitted by an FM transmitter to the nursing home and the hospital. This gives the patients in those facilities the opportunity to participate in the program at the park.

Plans in the future are for this transmitter to play background music continuously at the park.

The selections will be patriotic music and hymns. The park board feels that this will add an ambience for visitors.

As the park observes its sixth observance of Veterans Day, the public is not only invited to attend but also urged to take part in this observance where tribute will be paid to those who have served in the past and also to those who serve now.

The program is set for Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. at the park on the Highway 21 bypass in Springfield.
