Public input sought on Savannah River bridge replacement
gdot

Special to the Herald

A local grassroots campaign spearheaded by A Bridge Too Far (www.abridgetoofarsav.org) is encouraging citizen input for the Savannah River Bridge Replacement Project. The group also is hoping that the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and the City of Savannah do not repeat the mistakes of the past by putting the bridge back in the same location. The group is encouraging Savannah-area residents and local stakeholders to attend an open house March 13 hosted by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). This event is free and open to the public.

At the open house, which runs from 6-8 p.m., representatives from GDOT will share information and status updates regarding potential long-term improvements for the SR 404 Spur/US 17 Bridge over the Savannah River.

The open house will be held at the Coastal Georgia Center, 305 Fahn St., Savannah.

Attendees are invited to provide feedback about the project location, design, development, and potential impact on local neighborhoods and businesses.

In addition, area residents are invited to participate in the Public Information Open House comment period through March 27. Residents may call (404) 631-1526, email savannahriverxing@dot.ga.gov or click on https://bit.ly/savannahrivercrossing.
