The Effingham County Disaster Action Team is beginning a new phase in its work to assist people affected by disasters in the county.
With continued effort in Effingham County, the Red Cross will be able to provide much-needed assistance to people in the county and region," said Mark A. Moses-Hunt, assistant emergency services program manager for the Southeast Georgia chapters of the Red Cross.
Al Lucas, a Red Cross volunteer who has served as captain for the team, recently died, and the team now will continue to honor his legacy. The Effingham County team will be working with the Savannah chapter and the Chatham County Disaster Action Team through the time of transition. The members of the Effingham team are excited about the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people living in their community.
