This year, the American Cancer Society’s Effingham County Relay For Life will have its second annual Kid’s Walk for kindergarten through fifth grade boys and girls.

Relay For Life is a community-sponsored event, in which various teams from our county raise money for the ACS. The culminating activity is spent walking all night at South Effingham High School. The purpose is to honor and encourage survivors and remember those who lost their fight against cancer.

Since cancer never sleeps, members of the community are able to show support in our stand against cancer. The date for this year’s Relay is 7 p.m. April 25 to 7 a.m. April 26.

The Kid’s Walk, sponsored by Bahama Joes, will be from 7:30-9 p.m.  Boys and girls, along with a parent or legal guardian, will be able to participate by walking with us. A registration form with parental consent and participation must be submitted by March 28.

Each child will receive a special Kid’s Walk T-shirt with a pledge commitment of raising at least $25. Prizes will be awarded. The top two fundraisers will be specially recognized and each will receive a gift certificate.

For registration information, please visit the Relay For Life Web site  http://events.cancer.org/rfleffinghamga.
