Result of Guyton Post 1 race hangs on two provisional ballots

GUYTON -- Two races for the Guyton City Council remain undecided two days after ballots were cast.

Marshall Reiser leads Tamela Mydell 215-214 in the battle for the Post 1 seat with two provisional ballots waiting to be counted. Additional information is being sought to determine their validity.

In addition, Hursula Pelote and Andy Harville will face each other in a Dec. 3 runoff for the Post 2 seat. On Tuesday, Pelote received 200 votes to Harville's 175. Michael Gerwig and Sam Hartis, who withdrew from the race a couple weeks before the election, got 42 and three votes, respectively.

A candidate must receive 50 perecent of the vote plus one to be seated on the council.

In the mayor's race, Russ Deen defeated Michael Garvin 225-207.
