RINCON — Rincon maintained its membership in a shrinking club Monday night.
During a special called meeting, the Rincon City Council conducted its third public hearing on the millage rate for next year. It voted unanimously to approve a 4.95 rate with a rollback of 4.95.
“Just so the public understands, essentially, it means that we have no property taxes on businesses, commerical or residential (property),” said Reese Browher, council member. “That’s what the rollback is, and it’s been that way for 19 years.
“For 19 years, we have been getting by on user fees (water, etc.).”
