Rincon council OKs liquor referendum (update 1)

Rincon City Council approved allowing voters to decide on a referendum that would allow liquor by the drink in sales in restaurants.

Councilmembers voted 5-0 in favor of the measure, which was backed by a citizens group pushing for full-service restaurants in Effingham County. The referendum is expected to be ready for voters in February for the presidential preference primary.
