The Rincon Lions Club Christmas parade is approaching quickly.

The 28th Rincon Lions Club Christmas parade will roll through Rincon on Nov. 17, complete with Santa Claus.

“We’ll have bands, drill teams and floats of anything you can imagine,” Danny Fries, parade chairman, said. “You can bring your horses — but you’ll be at the end of the parade.”

Parade entries need to be at Macomber Park at 8:30 a.m. the day of the parade for the lineup. The procession will leave the park promptly at 10 a.m., Fries said.

The parade will go down Lexington Street to 4th Street, then to Highway 21 and eventually turn left on 9th Street.

Trophies for the best float will be awarded. Fries also said there will be only one Santa Claus in the parade.

The parade has had members of the 3rd Infantry Division band marching in the parade, but the Fort Stewart-based unit is in the middle of its third deployment to Iraq and will not be taking part this year.

Those wishing to take part in the parade can call Fries at 663-2412.

“If you want to participate in the parade, just let us know,” he said.
