RINCON -- The Rincon Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance. It is working a string of thefts from elderly people.

The same vehicle and multiple suspects have been spotted in numerous locations to include Savannah. These are some of the facts of the case:

-- Suspects are stalking elderly females that are shopping alone. A distraction is used while a second suspect steals the victim’s wallet.

-- Stolen cards are then used immediately for purchases, usually of cash cards from Walmart.

-- This group is responsible for thousands of dollars stolen from the elderly, averaging $2,000 from each victim.

-- Suspected to have three females and two males.

-- Suspects conceal their identities with sunglasses and COVID masks.

-- The suspect vehicle is believed to be a black 2018 Honda CRV, unknown state/tag.

-- Multiple jurisdictions have reported similar thefts, including Rincon, Savannah, Roswell, Athens-Clark County and Augusta.

-- Savannah had reports of theft of lost or mislaid property versus theft so there may be more victims.

The only way law enforcement officials are going to apprehend this group is for the public to notify them immediately if they see these subjects.
