School district adjusts COVID-19 protocols

The Effingham County School District has adjusted its COVID-19 protocols.

The following changes went into effect Monday:

— Masks will be required by all staff indoors and on buses.

— Visitors will be required to wear masks indoors (This includes after-school events inside).

— Masks are highly encouraged for students.

— Quarantine procedures for close contacts are as follows:

a. Close contact students wearing a mask are not required to quarantine. Parents will be notified and asked to monitor symptoms. Parents may choose to quarantine students regardless if they are wearing a mask. 

b. Students who are not wearing a mask will be required to quarantine immediately and follow the process below.

The district reported Monday that it has a 2.28 percent positivity rate among students. The rate is 5.72 for personnel.
