The Effingham County School System is committed to prioritizing safety across all learning environments within its district. During the summer, district administrators worked hand-in-hand with its safety team to plan for measures to support safety initiatives.

 Safety Sweeps, one of the measures, were conducted Sept. 7 at Effingham County Middle School and Effingham County High School. School officials and local law enforcement officials found three weapons within one vehicle.

 There were no verbal or written threats. 

The  school district will continue to follow proper protocol and procedures as we implement additional safety measures and conduct ongoing Safety Sweeps.
