RINCON, Ga. — Sewon America will create 100 new jobs in Rincon as part of a $50 million expansion of its manufacturing plant, the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority announced Monday.

The project will add 98,250 square feet to the facility and introduce new production capabilities. It marks the first expansion by a Hyundai supplier since Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America launched in late 2024 in Ellabell, about 25 minutes south of Rincon.

“Sewon America’s expansion is a full-circle moment and an incredible milestone for the Metaplant’s supplier network,” said Misti Martin, deputy commissioner of global commerce at the Georgia Department of Economic Development. “Georgia values long-lasting partnerships and seeks partners who share that commitment. We look forward to the additional opportunities this expansion will create for Effingham County.”

ECIDA Chairman Matt Saxon said the project reflects the company’s confidence in the county’s workforce and business climate.
“From the moment Sewon America chose Effingham County for its second U.S. facility, we knew this partnership would be long-lasting,” he said. “We’re proud to see them grow and create even more opportunities for local residents.”

Community Impact

Rincon Mayor Kevin Exley said the jobs will benefit the city and surrounding region.
“We are excited about the opportunity for more quality jobs in our community,” Exley said. “The City of Rincon looks forward to partnering with Sewon to ensure our local citizens can take advantage of these much-anticipated positions.”

Company Outlook

Robert Vazquez, Sewon America’s director of human resources, said the expansion will allow the company to better serve customers while investing in the local workforce.

Sewon America operates one of the largest automobile body-parts manufacturing plants in North America. It opened its first Georgia facility in LaGrange in 2008, which has since doubled in size, and began operations in Rincon in 2025. The company supplies electric-vehicle body parts for original equipment manufacturers, including Hyundai’s Metaplant.

The expansion is supported by the Georgia Department of Economic Development, the City of Rincon and the Effingham County Board of Commissioners.
