Sheriff's office probing deadly Springfield shooting

SPRINGFIELD -- The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that claimed the life of 19- year-old Jerrle Anthony McNeil. 

At 7:18 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to the 100 Block of Kildee Lane for a reported shooting. Deputies discovered McNeil's body inside a residence.

Detectives responded and initiated their investigation. They are still in process of collecting witness statements and evidence.
