South Effingham won first place in the Class AAAAA division at Saturday’s annual Battle in the Boro cheerleading competition in Statesboro.

South Effingham has competed in five events this year, claiming five wins and two grand championships. There was no grand champion named at the Battle in the Boro.

South Effingham junior Alaina Ricker said she enjoyed competing in an event close to home.

“It is a great place for your friends and family to be able to come and see you compete,” she said.
