South Effingham silences another opponent

GUYTON -- South Effingham shut out its fourth straight opponent Wednesday, beating Statesboro (5-14) 5-0.

Haylee Johnson pitched the first five innings for the Mustangs (18-4) and Bailey Kendziorski worked the last two. They combined to allow five hits and one walk with six strikeouts.

Whitney Thompson and Chloe Turner each had two hits. Thompson, who doubled, scored twice and Turner had three RBI. 

Avery Roddenberry, Mattie Turner and Kaley Stone also scored.

The Mustangs' recent string of shutouts also includes Glynn Academy (1-0), Brunswick (8-0) and Habersham Central (8-0). They have blanked seven teams this season.
