State troopers from the Rincon post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated eight traffic crashes during February in Effingham County. Sgt. Chris Nease said the traffic crashes resulted in nine injuries and one traffic death.

Nease said troopers from Post 42 also issued 53 traffic citations in the county during the month. The total includes one arrest for driving under the influence, 21 citations for speeding, 18 seat belt violations, and no child restraint violations. Troopers also issued 124 warnings.

In addition to enforcement activity, Nease also announced that troopers conducted a safety education presentations to promote traffic safety in Effingham County. Nease said troopers routinely make safety presentations in the counties the post serves.
