Sunday crash outside Savannah sends several Effingham residents to hospital

The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s major accident investigation team continues to look into a crash Sunday night that sent several Effingham County residents to the hospital.

According to the SCMPD, six juveniles and a woman are listed in serious or critical condition after the collision of a pickup truck and an SUV at Highway 204 and Interstate 95. The crash occurred about 7:54 p.m. on the ramp to I-95 northbound.

A Ford pickup driven by Dallas Dasher, 20, of Meldrim, was traveling west on 204 at a high rate of speed, according to the SCMPD. The pickup passed a vehicle and collided with the SUV that was turning left onto the northbound entrance ramp with a green arrow.

Five passengers in the white Hyundai Sante Fe and two in the pickup were transported via Southside EMS ambulance or airlifted to Memorial University Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the SUV, Hugh Kessler, 37, of Rincon, was transported later for complaints of injuries.

Listed in critical condition were Keaton Kesler, 5, Savannah Kesler, 10, Brianna Kesler, 11, and Tyler Kesler, 13. Listed in serious condition were Holley Kesler, 34, and Dustin Johnson, 13, and Austin Johnson, 14.
