Gary Weitman takes the oath of office from Judge Ed Reddick before taking his seat on the Springfield City Council. Weitman is assuming the remainder of the term vacated by Max Neidlinger, who resigned in February. 

The seat is up for election this year. Weitman and his wife Dixie have two children. Weitman, who is retired, previously served on the city council from 1977-80.
